What's Happening In Music & Theater This Week

We are back with your Bi-Weekly Music & Theatre Update. This week’s update is headlined by Ariana Grande and the legendary rock band KISS. Bruno Mars has announced the addition of new dates to his previously sold out 24K Magic World Tour. Several artists have announced residencies; Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Aerosmith and Lady Antebellum will all be in Las Vegas, and Bill Joel will be at Madison Square Garden.  Check out others on the list and click on your favorite artist or performer to see if they will be stopping by your city.

Ariana Grande – Announced the initial run of dates for her “Sweetener” world tour, promoting her chart-topping latest album of the same name. The first leg of The Sweetener World Tour will begin in North America on March 18 in Albany, NY., and finish June 18 in New York, NY. at Madison Square Garden.

Blake Shelton - Revealed his 2019 live tour plans, named the Friends and Heroes Tour, because it includes both. He's recruited openers the Bellamy Brothers, John Anderson, Trace Adkins and Lauren Alaina to join him on this tour. The tour kicks off Feb. 14 in Oklahoma City, Okla. and current announced dates are running through March.

Mark Knopfler - Announced a headlining North American tour for summer 2019 last week. The Dire Straits lead will kick off the 28-date trek on August 16th in Mashantucket, Connecticut and conclude September 22nd in Los Angeles, California. The tour will promote Knopfler’s ninth solo LP (and first in three years), Down the Road Wherever, out November 16th. He recently teased the album with a fly-on-the-wall video for new song “Good on You Son.”

KISS – After 45 years of full makeup, tall boots and elaborate costumes, Kiss is hitting the road for their final tour. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band will launch their End of the Road Tour on Jan. 31 in Vancouver, B.C., at Rogers Arena and play an additional 43 dates throughout North America for their farewell tour. Tour will include band members Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer for the multi-year run that promises dates until at least 2020. The current North American dates will hit major markets including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Detroit, Montreal, Boston, New York and Miami. The final North American date is scheduled for April 13 in Birmingham, Ala. We will also be offering VIP experiences for FANS!

Dierks Bentley  Barely two weeks after wrapping his 2018 Mountain High Tour with a Hollywood Bowl sold out show that included a surprise appearance from Dwight Yoakam, he has announced he’ll hit the road again in January with Jon Pardi, Tenille Townes and his Nineties tribute group Hot Country Kings for the new Burning Man Tour. 24 dates have been announced so far for the tour, which, ironically, looks set to kick off in freezing cold temperatures with a series of dates opening through Canada that begins January 17th at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario. The rest of that month will be spent north of the border before heading to the warmer sun of California. After a pit stop in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena on February 22nd, Bentley and co. play the bulk of the remaining shows in the upper mid-west during March.

Bruno Mars - Announced that a limited number of additional tickets will be released for his previously sold out trio of 24k Magic World Tour homecoming performances at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. Sales for each Hawaii date are zip code restricted to Hawaii residents for the first 48 hours in order to allow residents of Bruno’s hometown community to purchase tickets first.

A$AP RockyAnnounced a run of shows dubbed the Injured Generation Tour that will bring his May album Testing across North America next year. The 18-city trek launches on Jan. 8 in Minneapolis and wraps on Feb. 6 in Kent, WA, with stops in Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, and more. Openers have not yet been announced.

Lady AntebellumWill become the latest top-tier country act to take up residency in Las Vegas as their Our Kind of Vegas concert series launches early next year. The multi-award-winning trio’s residency at the Palms Casino Resort’s Pearl Concert Theater will consist of 15 dates between February 8th and August 31st.

Jeff Lynne’s ELO  – the tour will kick off June 20 in Anaheim, CA and travel across North America to cities like Vancouver, Nashville, Atlanta, Washington DC, Toronto, Philadelphia, Newark, Detroit and Chicago before concluding in Pittsburgh, PA on August 1. Late in 2015 Lynne’s ELO released a very on-brand and very ELO album called “Alone in the Universe” and the group has been touring behind it ever since.

Britney Spears – She’s heading back to Sin City for a new residency at the Park Theater at Park MGM, where Lady Gaga and Aerosmith are set to launch residencies of their own, joining the likes of Cher. "Domination" is set to kick off in February

Billy Joel  –  He recently announced the first 2019 date of his Madison Square Garden residency, which will mark his 60th concert at the New York arena since his began his monthly residence there five years ago. He will perform 1/24/2019.

Mariah Carey – She will be embarking on the Caution World Tour in support of her upcoming record Caution (Nov. 16). Kicking off in Feb. 2019, the 22-city run will count with “one-of-a-kind” production according to several media outlets and will feature songs from the new album as well as Carey's classic hits.

The 1975 – Have announced a North American tour behind their upcoming third album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships. Pale Waves and No Rome are scheduled to support the 22-date run, which commences March 20 in Guadalajara and wraps June 3 in Toronto. The band will also play 11 shows in the UK in January.

DisturbedAnnounced the Evolution World Tour in support of their seventh studio album releasing this Friday (Oct. 19). The shows kick off at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, Calif. on Jan. 9 and conclude at O2 Apollo in Manchester, U.K. on May 14. Three Days Grace will be supporting Disturbed during North American tour dates.

Theater

Jerry Seinfeld   Announced a 2019 Beacon Theatre residency with two shows per night on January 11, February 8, March 14, March 15, April 4, April 5, May 3, May 4, June 6 and June 7. He’s also got tons of other upcoming shows, including two Newark shows in December 2018 and two Atlantic City shows on 4/20 in 2019.

Hello Dolly Los AngelesThe Tony Award winner takes on the title role of Dolly Gallagher Levi in the road production, which will celebrated its official opening with a Cleveland, Ohio, engagement that began on September 30. Following the Cleveland engagement, the tour will go on to play San Diego, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. & Boston.

Fiddler on the Fort Lauderdale ‘Fiddler on the Roof” returned to Broadway in 2015 for its 50th anniversary. It is that revival that will come to Fort Lauderdale’s Broward Center for the Performing Arts Feb. 20-March 3, 2019.
