What’s Happening In Music & Theater This Week

For this week’s Music & Theater Update all you need to know is…Backstreet’s back! The Backstreet Boys are coming with a 70-date world tour and a new album that will definitely bring back some memories for 90’s kids.


Backstreet Boys World Tour Announced a 70-date tour alongside news of their upcoming 10th studio album, DNA, this morning. They also dropped their new single, “Chances,”. Tour kicks off in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 11 and finishes off its European run in Budapest, Hungary, on June 25. North American dates begin July 12 in Washington, D.C. and conclude Sept. 15 in Newark, NJ.

Train & Goo Goo Dolls Announced the dates of a summer tour that pairs it with the alternative rock act Goo Goo Dolls. The tour will feature special guest Allen Stone as the opening act and hit over 39 stops across North America.

Zac Brown BandAnnounced new music and a new tour this morning. The "Chicken Fried" group will play arenas and amphitheaters nationwide beginning in March. Fifteen new tour dates were revealed in a press release, starting with a March 1 stop in Tulsa, Okla., and ending in Peoria, Ill. on April 27. Fun Fact: They spent 2018 touring Major League Baseball stadiums including Fenway Park, where they've sold out nine consecutive shows.

Iron Maiden - The 33-city North American leg of the tour will also visit some U.S. cities for the first time in decades, including the band’s first Portland, Oregon show since 1987 and their first Hartford, Connecticut gig since 2005. The tour begins July 18th in Sunrise, Florida.

Blake Shelton Revealed his 2019 live tour plans, named the Friends and Heroes Tour, because it includes both. He's recruited openers the Bellamy Brothers, John Anderson, Trace Adkins and Lauren Alaina to join him on this tour. The tour kicks off Feb. 14 in Oklahoma City, Okla. and current announced dates are running through March.

Ozzy Osbourne The two-month leg kicks off May 29th at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, and runs through a July 29th show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Opening for Ozzy will be fellow metal legends Megadeth!! As previously announced, Osbourne will headline a one-off Ozzfest New Year’s Eve concert on December 31st at The Forum in Los Angeles, with Rob Zombie, and Marilyn Manson. He’ll also headline a European trek in early 2019 with support from Judas Priest.

MUSE - Tour will kick off in North America, starting Feb. 22 in Houston and running through April 10 in Boston. Fans who have pre-ordered their new album “Simulation Theory” by Nov. 9 will have first access to tickets.  In addition to the North American trek, they have also revealed the dates for a European tour leg that kicks off May 26 in Prague and wraps July 26 in Madrid, Spain.

Super Bowl Music Festival - On Location Experiences announced, the first-ever Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest leading into Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta. Performances from Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Aerosmith, Migos & Ludacris have been scheduled.

Garth Brooks  -  Added additional dates to his North America tour; State Farm Stadium in Phoenix & The Dome at the Americas Center in St. Louis, both shows are taking place in March 2019.

KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas - Smashing Pumpkins, Florence + the Machine, Death Cab for Cutie and Thirty Seconds to Mars top the lineup for the 29th edition of KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas shows, slated for Dec. 8-9 at the Forum in Inglewood. They will be joined by Bad Religion, Mike Shinoda, Third Eye Blind, Greta Van Fleet, Bastille, Billie Eilish, Mike Posner, Young the Giant, Afi, Ajr, Badflower, the Interrupters, Chvrches and Lovely the Band.

Quinn XCII -  The tour will see Quinn hitting 30 cities in North America as well as eight in Europe, starting out in Amsterdam on Feb. 3 and then kicking off the North American leg on Feb. 19 in Indianapolis and wrapping on April 17 in Austin. He spent a majority of 2017 and the first half of 2018 touring.

My Favorite Murder Tennessee - Since Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark launched the popular, darkly & funny podcast in early 2016, they've taped nearly 150 episodes, toured everywhere from Salt Lake City to Sydney and have developed a devoted fan base. This is currently the only Tennessee date on the duo's 25-city 2019 tour, which kicks off in San Diego on January 11 and concludes five months later in Minneapolis.
