What’s Happening In Music & Theater This Week

This week’s Music and Theater update has something special for all those Country fans out there. Not only did Kenny and George make some big announcements for 2019 – but we also get a reunion. You’ve probably all heard by now, Darrius Rucker and the boys are back - Hootie & The Blowfish are back with their Group Therapy Tour starting May 30th. As of now, they are scheduled to hit 44 cities across the country – but judging by the buzz, that number could go up for sure! Check out some of the other artists below who made some announcements this week along with some in Theater who have on sale dates coming up next week.

Hootie & The Blowfish  The Group Therapy Tour starts May 30, 2019, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and will hit 44 cities, including the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Madison Square Garden in New York and Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The tour ends in Columbia, South Carolina on Sept. 13.

Dead & Company  Announced their plans for a 2019 summer tour, hitting a mix of amphitheaters, classic stadiums like Chicago's Wrigley Field and Boulder's Folsom Field, along with iconic venues like the Hollywood Bowl and the Gorge in Washington.

Billy Joel -  He will visit Phoenix on March 9. It will be his first-ever baseball stadium appearance in Arizona. In addition to the Phoenix performance, Joel will also perform next year at Amway Center in Orlando on Jan. 11, New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Jan. 24, Feb. 14 and March 21.

Kenny Chesney – Has announced the cities and dates for a new tour for 2019, and this time around, he's doing things differently. Rather than touring in the massive stadium venues he's been focused on recently, Chesney will take his Songs for the Saints 2019 Tour into some smaller markets and venues for a series of more intimate concerts. He announced a string of cities and dates on Friday (Nov. 16), including Champaign, Ill., Grand Rapids, Mich., and Tuscaloosa, Ala., with shows scheduled in the Midwest, the South and mid-Atlantic states. It's a very different approach than his 2018 Trip Around the Sun Tour, which focused on shows at stadium venues including Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium and MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

George Strait –  Announced his retirement in 2014 and ended it with a “Cowboy Rides Away” tour in Arlington. But he has performed select shows since then, and also announced 13 more shows in 2019.

Queen & Adam Lambert-  The Rhapsody tour kicks off July 10 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC. After cruising across the county, making stops at arenas including The Forum in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in New York, the tour will wrap up at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C. on Aug. 23.

Paul McCartney -  The four new dates include McCartney’s first-ever appearances at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on June 8 and Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, on June 14. On June 22 and July 13, meanwhile, McCartney will return to Petco Park in San Diego and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, both of which hosted McCartney performances to capacity crowds on his 2014 Out There tour Presale Date: 12/07

ZHU -  Announced phase TWO of his ongoing “Dune” tour, which kicked off this fall and will be making stops in LA, Brooklyn, Toronto and more. In tangent with the first wave of tour dates, he’s also released part 1 of his upcoming album — and bringing 2.5 tons of sand on the road with him to make for a truly unique live experience

Judas Priest -  Will celebrate part of their 50th anniversary year with a spring and summer tour of North America next year in support of this year’s Firepower, their 18th studio album. The tour will run from May 3rd to June 29th and will feature two-night stands in Long Island, Milwaukee, Austin and San Francisco.

Gwen Stefani  -  has added performances to her first career Las Vegas residency at the Zappos Theater. She has residency dates lined up for December, February, and March.  The newly added shows are scheduled for July, October, and November.

Andrea Bocelli   Announced U.S. concert dates, series of performances in June 2019 will feature the tenor’s return to Sacramento and Denver for the first time in over five years; they also mark the first time he has played back-to-back performances on the west coast with two dates set at the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles

Hugh Jackman Accompanied by a live orchestra, Jackman will be performing hits from The Greatest Showman and Les Misérables as well as music from other films and Broadway shows.  The 22-date North American leg will start at the Toyota Center in Houston, T.X. on June 18 and continue across cities including Chicago, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Ga., Las Vegas and more. The final July 19-20 dates are set to take place at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

Fiddler on the Roof Los Angeles  - The tour will visit more than 30 cities in its first year on tour, including Chicago at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, Austin, TX at Bass Concert Hall, and Los Angeles, CA at The Pantages.

Kidz Bop  - the #1 music brand for kids, will perform in Australia, Germany, London, Mexico, and more, in addition to playing to 50+ cities across the U.S. and Canada.

Hamilton Dallas  - Dallas Summer Musicals and Broadway Across America will present the Tony and Grammy Award-winning blockbuster musical April 2-May 5 as part of its 2018-2019 subscription season at Fair Park Music Hall, which holds 3,420 seats.
